HOW ENERGY EFFICIENT ARE YOU?
If you want to be more energy aware you will need to check your home’s energy efficiency.
You will need an Energy Performance Certificate, known as an EPC. This is produced by an Domestic Energy Assessor, who visits your home to collect the relevant data and creates the EPC.
Two ratings are shown on the certificate. The environmental impact rating is a measure of a home’s impact on the environment in terms of carbon dioxide emissions – the higher the rating, the less impact it has.
The energy-efficient rating is a measure of a home’s overall efficiency. The higher the rating, the more energy-efficient the home is, and the lower the fuel bills.
The average property in the UK is in bands D – E for both ratings.
The following measures can significantly reduce your heating bills and carbon dioxide emissions:
* Cavity wall insulation * Loft & floor insulation * Draught-proofing * Boiler replacement & new central heating systems * Hot water tank insulation * Window Installation
