DID YOU KNOW
The average household could save around £200 a year by taking energy efficient measures.
This is the equivalent to a saving of around 2tonnes of carbon dioxide.

HOW ENERGY EFFICIENT ARE YOU?
If you want to be more energy aware you will need to check your home’s energy efficiency.
You will need an Energy Performance Certificate, known as an EPC. This is produced by an Domestic Energy Assessor, who visits your home to collect the relevant data and creates the EPC.
Two ratings are shown on the certificate.  The environmental impact rating is a measure of a home’s impact on the environment in terms of carbon dioxide emissions – the higher the rating, the less impact it has.
The energy-efficient rating is a measure of a home’s overall efficiency. The higher the rating, the more energy-efficient the home is, and the lower the fuel bills.
The average property in the UK is in bands D – E for both ratings.
The following measures can significantly reduce your heating bills and carbon dioxide emissions:

* Cavity wall insulation * Loft & floor insulation * Draught-proofing * Boiler replacement & new central heating systems * Hot water tank insulation * Window Installation

OUR IMPACT
Almost half of the UK’s carbon dioxide emissions, the main greenhouse gas which causes climate change, actually come from the things we do everyday.
Thousands of people are adopting energy saving lifestyles by doing simple things ranging from turning off their lights to installing energy efficient condensing boilers and insulating their homes.
Between 2002 and 2005 a massive 1.1million households installed or topped off their loft insulation. It is estimated that £87million a year in energy costs will be saved as a result of this, according to the Energy Saving Trust.

SIMPLE SOLUTIONS

* Turn your thermostat dow

* Don't leave appliances on stand-by

* Use energy saving ligt-bulbs
- they last 10 times longer
